Council Meeting - "Transforming Elder Care: The Case for Life Care Planning in Elder Law and Estate Planning"
Elder Law has traditionally involved a blend of estate planning and long-term care planning through access to various public benefit programs (Medicaid being the most common program). Now, Elder Law has evolved to expand the services families and family members need when facing all the associated issues of aging.
A younger person will likely engage an estate planning attorney. An older person, or most likely the family members of older persons who are trying to address all of the issues associated with aging and failing health, now seek the services of an elder law attorney who can also offer comprehensive Life Care Planning services. Life Care Planning incorporates the many legal, financial, and health care issues related to aging.
Lisa Hostetler Brown, Certified Elder Law Attorney (one of only 5 CELAs in the state certified by the National Elder Law Foundation), and Managing Attorney of LawyerLisa here in Bluffton offers LIFE CARE PLANNING SERVICES in all 4 of her offices serving the entire state of SC. Lisa will provide a case study demonstrating the difference in tradition elder law/estate planning and the additional benefits of Life Care Planning.
